At Prisma Health, our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs are designed to help patients permanently improve function, increase understanding, and lower risk through exercise, therapy, nutrition, education and more. 

Our caring, friendly team includes a medical director, respiratory therapists, dieticians, nurses and exercise physiologists. They’ll cheer you on every step of the way as you develop the understanding and habits to live a healthier, longer life.

Cardiac rehabilitation

A comprehensive program for recently hospitalized cardiac patients, those at risk for heart disease, or anyone interested in safe, medically supervised exercise.

Program features include:
  • Emotional support.
  • Heart disease education.
  • Medication management.
  • Monitored, multi-phase exercise program with gradually increasing intensity.
  • Nutrition counseling and education.
  • Risk factor modifications.
  • Stress management.
  • Weight control.

Pulmonary rehabilitation

A program designed to help patients struggling with shortness of breath from asthma, emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer and other conditions.

Program features include:
  • Breathing exercises and panic control.
  • Effective methods of coughing and removing secretions from the lungs.
  • Managing respiratory disease through diet.
  • Medication management and equipment.
  • Monitored, multi-phase exercise program with gradually increasing intensity.
  • Pulmonary disease education.
  • Training on how to walk effectively and breathe while climbing and descending stairs.
